SO, according to the grand tradition of living in a foriegn country, there are holidays on some random days. This past Thursday was such a day. So the Shimo girls and I decided to go out to dinner and then to Karaoke on Wed night.
Dinner was amazing. They took me to this Italian restaurant that served gorgonzola penne and all you can drink in an hour wine for 350 . Amazing!!! Since everyone backed out of Karaoke-ing, the girls thought we should try our luck in Utsonomia. Utsunomia (being the big city in Tochigi Prefecture) is actually a big city. When we were down town I couldn't see one cabbage field.
So we get to the main gaijin bar in Utsu. to find out that it is not only closing early, but that it is empty. We drove 45 mins for THIS??!?!? Since the next day was a national holiday we expected there to be more people out and about. So after no luck at the bar, we headed one block up the street to a club known for having a lot of foriegners around. That club had 15 people in it, including us. So since we drove all the way we got a coctail and preceeded to check the men folk out. And low and behold, we actually know 5 of the guys at the club. The crew from the cabin weekend in Ashiyo was also looking for a good time. Once our party enlarged, it was more fun.
So after a few hours of dancing and flirting it was time to get going. Me, being the one with a cold, only drank water and cola all night. Which means that I was able to drive our asses back to Ibaraki and we didn't have to sleep in the car. As we are heading out onto the main drag we notice a group of cute foriegners. So Tressa hangs her head out the window, I pull the car over and we try to see if they know of a happening place to be.
They are cute, way too cute. Tress is chatting them up. They are canadian, french, dutch, columbian and several other countries I don't remember at the moment. We find out that they are in the Circus (who the hell is in the circus now a days???). They seem to be more interested in borrowing Crystal's Cherry Lip Balm than having a couple drinks with some cute girls. So we left them on the freezing cold curb and headed home.
It was a highly uneventful evening. Why am I posting a blog about it? I have nothing else going on and I felt that you all needed to read something. I will try to invent a more exciting life for myself next time.
Hugs and Kisses
JDW
