Hi Everybody!!!
Once again I have to apologise for my complete lack of blogging lately. Every time I have a moment to write a blog... our stupid Internet goes out again. That is why I didn't tell any of you that we were going to Hawaii. That is also why you have not been hearing about all the little ins and outs of our daily life. Damn Spotty Internet. So here is a brief update about what's been happening around the old homestead in Nerimatakanodai.
So we finally saw Spiderman. It was pretty good, but I don't think it was totally worth seeing it at Japanese cinema's full price ticket (1800 Yen per person). However, I am really excited to see the third installment of Pirates this week and hopefully I won't be disappointed.
Hawaii was great. Juan and I decided only about 2 weeks prior that we could go. Unfortunately, my work schedule is pretty tight and getting more than one day off is near impossible. Luckily, my boss called in some favors and got a couple of people to cover enough of my classes so we could attend the wedding of my only sister.
Over seven hours on a plane each way... Juan and I were on the beautiful, garden island of Kauai for about 48 hours. The weather was perfect!!! Juan and I stayed at one of the many Outrigger facilities. The Outrigger Plantation in Poipu was a peaceful place. There was no room service, but our bungalow was bigger than our apartment and the beach was less that a 5 minute walk from our porch.
The intimate service was held beach side. Paula looked beautiful in her wedding attire and her husband John was as nice of a guys in person as he is over the phone. We feasted on Surf n Turf and Moet champagne and Mr. and Mrs. White's Wedding cake was seriously the best thing I have tasted in a long time. The only things we regret is being completely jet lagged for 5 days straight and not having more time with those we love and on this lovely island.
So now we are back home, and truckin' along as usual. Yesterday I got 2 of my 3 wisdom teeth pulled. The third one comes out next week. Apparently they don't like pulling more than 2 teeth at one time, but it's OK. It was so damn cheep. I love living in a country with national health care. Two pulled teeth, antibiotics and painkillers came to a whopping price of 4700 Yen (that's like 40 bucks American). At these prices... I am never gonna move back to America!
The weather is warming up and the rainy season will be upon us in no time. Juan and I don't have any major plans for June. We will be starting our new jobs very soon (this Friday for me). I am not looking forward to the extra hours of work, but I am looking forward to the double income. Hopefully this brings you up to date on what's happening on our side of the world. Till next time. JA NE!
