A quiet Golden Week.

As you well remember, Golden Week is one of the three major holiday periods in Japan. If the stars alight perfectly, everyone could have an entire week off of work, but this year we had to settle for only a 5 day weekend. Juan and I did exactly two things this Golden week.... Shop and Snuggle... wait... let me explain.

We have finally started our Sayonara Japan Countdown clock. Now don't get too excited everyone... we have set our departure for two more years. So if everything goes to plan, we should be back in the USA come summer 2011. Don't cry now, it will pass sooner than you think. Also, if you want to visit us in our super tiny apartment the window of opportunity is closing.

What was I talking about again?... oh right, Golden Week. Because Team Leon is staying in the land of the rising sun for 2 more years we felt it was high time to get a little organised. So after several local outings at DIY shops (wheres a Home Depot when you need it) we finally gave in and went to IKEA!!! There is a brand new Ikea in Saitama and we took ourselves and our large Ikea Eco bags to the land of meatballs and furniture. Now this being Golden week... we knew exactly what we were getting ourselves into... MADNESS!!!!

Fact: Japanese people + national holiday = Shopping Chaos

Cut to the end.... WE Bought a Bed!!!!!

I don't think you understand. We bought a real bed!!! Let me explain. I have been sleeping on either an air mattresses or on futons for 4 years now. Juan and I have technically only shared the same bed once since we have been married (and that was on our honeymoon in Hiroshima).

Sure, we have smooshed our futons together, but someone always ends up sleeping in the crack between the two futons, which means that someone is sleeping on the floor. We have a bed!!! So once our bed was delivered, we spent the remainder of our blessed holiday enjoying the novelty of sharing one blanket, stealing each others pillows and elbowing each other in the eye while we sleep. It's great. We have a bed! YEAH!!!!!
